Garrett Dawson has dedicated his life to studying and authentically performing drums and percussion from all corners of the earth and has a true passion for sharing what he has learned. From absolute beginner to advanced pro students, Garrett's warm and positive teaching style will inspire and elevate your playing. He teaches drum set, snare drum, djembe, congas, timbales, classical percussion, and many other global percussion instruments. With over 25 years teaching experience, Garrett has helped many of his students to successfully pursue professional careers in music. Garrett is currently accepting drum set and percussion students at his studio located in central Sarasota for those in the Bradenton, Sarasota, Lakewood Ranch, Venice, and Englewood areas or online for students world wide. Garrett also has extensive experience teaching drums and percussion to students on the Autism Spectrum.
Garrett has studied under well known drumming luminaries such as Babatunde Olatunji, Armen Halburian, Dave Weckl, John Jeakins, John Riley, Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez, Gumbi Ortiz, Steve Smith, and many other prolific drummers. Garrett has toured with multiple Grammy award winning artists and as a studio musician his drumming has been featured on over 50 studio projects and albums. Extremely vast and eclectic is the only way to summarize Garrett’s performance background throughout many diverse genres from around the globe.
