Garrett has dedicated his life to studying and authentically performing drums and percussion from all corners of the earth. He is a self-proclaimed student of music for life and has been a drum educator in high demand for nearly 20 years in the Sarasota, Bradenton, Manatee, and Venice areas. Garrett has studied with well known drumming luminaries such as Babatunde Olatunji, Armen Halburian,  Dave Weckl,  John Riley, Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez, Gumbi Ortiz, Steve Smith, and many other prolific drummers.  Extremely vast and eclectic is the only way to summarize Garrett’s performance background. He has worked with many artists in the fields of European classical, African soukous, Latin Jazz, American blues and folk, American southern rock, and avant-garde.  With a true passion for sharing what he has learned Garrett specializes in drum set, djembe, classical percussion, congas, timbales, and many other world percussion instruments. Drum lessons are tailored to students’ individual skill levels and goals and have helped many drummers improve their feel, reading, technique, independence, fluidity, musical brain, and attitude enabling many students to pursue professional careers in music. Garrett also has extensive experience teaching drums and percussion to students on the Autism Spectrum.
